Pyrrolidines

Pyrrolidines are pyrrolidine based alkaloids.

Alkaloids containing pyrrolidine are collectively known as pyrrolidines. In general pyrrolidine based alkaloids tend to be more potent and longer lasting than their corresponding dimethylamine counterparts and slightly weaker and shorter lasting than their piperidine counterparts.

Many allylbenzenes are known to form pyrrolidines in vivo, as well as their corresponding dimethylamine and piperidine counterparts. According to the current Oilahuasca Theory, this may partially how nutmeg and similar allylbenzene containing herbs produce their psychedelic activity.
